SEATTLE (August 4, 2020) — Marguerite Casey Foundation is launching a new partnership with Penguin Random House’s One World imprint to amplify the work of authors who are powerful voices for social justice. This partnership connects leading authors with activists and community organizers, as they work to change the national conversation about justice, freedom, and power.
Each month through the rest of 2020, Marguerite Casey Foundation will share books among its grantee partners, community leaders, staff, and others working for a more just society. The authors featured in this partnership have all written books about the impacts of white supremacy, systemic racism, and gender inequity on communities across the country. This partnership is an example of how Marguerite Casey Foundation believes philanthropy should support social justice and leaders in this moment.
“Marguerite Casey Foundation is honored to amplify these critical authors and their works,” says Dr. Carmen Rojas, President and CEO of Marguerite Casey Foundation. “This partnership will allow us to deepen the relationships between the country’s most important writers and organizers working toward shifting the balance of power towards Black, Indigenous, and Communities of Color as well as to our trans and queer brothers and sisters.”
The first two books of this partnership are “How To Be An Antiracist by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi” and “Finna: Poems by Nate Marshall.” Book selections will align with the current moment and conversation, and future selections will be announced as they are chosen.
