Bio

Jonathan directs special projects at the Foundation including Answer the Uprising and Freedom Scholars, supports grant recipients to access federal funding, and facilitates partnerships to resource community-led solutions to realize racial and economic justice.

Before joining the Foundation, Jonathan was the Senior Director of Programs at the Oakland Public Education Fund where he led large philanthropic partnerships to expand access to restorative justice programs, close the digital divide, and diversify the teaching field.

These experiences, along with his 10+ years in the fields of education and parent organizing, are reflected in essays that have appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, EmbraceRace, and in a forthcoming book addressing whiteness in educational justice movements.

Jonathan earned a masters in educational leadership at the University of California, Berkeley, and now serves as a member of their CalTeach faculty.
