Bio

Dr. Rami Nashashibi is the founding and Executive Director of the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) and a 2017 MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellow. Dr. Nashashibi is an advisor to a number of strategic initiatives across the country.

His work with IMAN continues to be featured in many national and international media outlets. He is invited regularly to address national and international forums speaking to a number of issues around faith, identity, social justice, the arts, and community-led development. In 2016, President Barack Obama appointed him to serve on the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. He received a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Chicago and has taught courses at multiple universities, recently completing a three-year teaching appointment at the Chicago Theological Seminary.
